374 steps to the top of the Citadel
Right outside the carriage entrance of Hôtel Neuvice begins the climb up the Buren stairs: 374 steps cut into the hillside, leading to the top of Liège's Citadel. Allow about twenty minutes for the full climb, at an easy pace.
A view that rewards the effort
At the top, the view opens onto the slate roofs of Liège and the Meuse valley below. It's a lovely spot in the late afternoon, when the light skims the facades.
Before or after the climb
On the way back down, the Place du Marché, the Town Hall and the Grand Curtius museum are all a short walk away, before returning to the calm of the hotel's interior courtyard.
